Amphenol’s revolutionary 1m (3.3 ft) 200-Gigabit Ethernet QSFP56 to 4 x 50-Gigabit Ethernet SFP56 Direct Attach Copper (DAC) Splitter Cable offers IT professionals a cost-effective interconnect solution for merging new 200G QSFP56 and 50G SFP56 enabled host adapters, switches and servers. For typical applications, users can install this splitter cable (a.k.a. “octopus” cable) between an available QSFP56 port on their 200-Gigabits-per-second (200G Ethernet / 200GBASE-CR4) QSFP56 rated switch/server and feed up to four upstream 50.0-Gigabits-per-second (50G Ethernet/50GBASE-CR1) SFP56 capable switches/servers. Each QSFP56-SFP56 splitter cable features a single QSFP56 connector (SFF-8665) rated for 200-Gbps on one end and (4) SFP56 connectors (SFF-8402), each rated for 50-Gbps, on the other. Amphenol is the only manufacturer of QSFP56 to 4 x SFP56 Splitter Cables that designs and sources every subassembly in-house – guaranteeing complete control over product performance, quality and consistency. Examples include our use of 30 AWG Amphenol SpectraStrip SKEWCLEAR wire, attaining the industry’s lowest attenuation and skew characteristics; as well as our widely respected “board-as-connector” platform which is direct-welded to the wire and encased in a robust Zinc-Nickel backshell for superior crosstalk and EMI performance. Identical to OEM Amphenol High-Speed I/O (HSIO) cable assembly of comparable specifications (length/AWG). Although this cable uses the 50G per lane (50-Gigabit Ethernet) PAM4 modulation to achieve 200G aggregate (200-Gigabit Ethernet) data rates, it is compatible with both 10G and 25G NRZ modulation, thus enabling reverse compatibility with all older generation switch/server QSFP28/QSFP+ ports and SFP28/SFP+ ports.
