Amphenol XGIGA's XP-85B1-02D Series 25G SFP28 100m Short Range (25GBASE-SR) Multimode Optical Transceiver Module with Duplex LC Connector seamlessly integrates the transmit and receive paths of a single 25.0 Gbps rated data channel via a universal coded SFF-8472 MSA compliant SFP28 pluggable interface for maximum compatibility with your 25-Gigabit Ethernet rated SFP28 switch, server and NIC ports. As a bonus, enjoy backwards compatibility with 10G SFP+ ports.

The integrated laser driver with limiting amplifier operates at a center wavelength of 850 nm, transmitting data at signal rates of up to 26.50 Gigabits-per-second.  The single channel SFP28 compliant interface transmits over multimode (50/125) rated fiber optic cabling using the popular duplex LC connector style.  The rated transmission distance using OM3 MMF is approximately 70-meters and the distance using OM4 MMF is approximately 100-meters (330-feet). 

The transceiver's highly efficient VCSEL style laser driver relies on LED diode laser technology, which operate using far less power than traditional laser drivers and produce far less heat, allowing for a Thermal Design Power (TDP) rating of less than 1.0 watts.  They operate on a safer visible wavelength spectrum to minimize the risk of accidental eye damage when handling laser excited patch cords.   On the receive side, the single 25G data stream is recovered by a reliable PIN photo-detector.

These exceptional 25G SFP28-SR short range multimode optical transceiver modules are precision-built in Amphenol's premiere optics lab in Taiwan and strenuously tested for long-term reliability and exceptional performance. Featuring a hot-pluggable electrical interface design, low power consumption (< 1W), a phenomenal BER (Bit-Error-Rate) and a 2-wire serial interface with integrated Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) support.  Form-factor, optical/electrical connection and digital diagnostic interface is fully-compliant to SFP28 MSA standards.

Amphenol SFP28 Optical SR TX Module Works Perfect on 3 of Our Switches -- Awesome Price!

The current copper direct attach SFP28 cable length limitation per the SFP28 MSA standards is simply insufficient for our server room with several links to 3 of our switches, all different brands at variable distances rack-to-rack within our datacenter. Purchased multiple modules along with the Amphenol Duplex LC fiber patch cords. This filled the void we needed for a 10-meter run and multiple 15-meter runs. Modules booted up immediately, registered on the PHY, no EEPROM sec errors to speak of. Big fan of anything Amphenol. Been using Amphenol RF and Amphenol Connex (and now Amphenol Cables on Demand) for my UHF, BNC and N coax runs on my ham radio gear for years and I resell them to my commercial radio clients as well for UHF and VHF-HI uplinks and downlinks. I've yet to have one fail in the field for well over a decade now!
