RP-TNC to RP-TNC Cables (Coaxial Cable with RP-TNC Connectors)
Shop RP-TNC to RP-TNC RF Cable Assemblies (Coaxial Cables with RP-TNC Connectors) at Amphenol Cables on Demand. The Reverse Polarity TNC (RP-TNC) Connector was developed for use as a standardized connector type for the included set of antennas for 2.4-GHz and later 5-GHz Wi-Fi Routers and Access Points, which was required for FCC Certification to discourage the use of upgraded "high-gain" external antennas, which, if mounted outdoors at high elevation and gain ratings of 20dB or more, could conceivably boost the Wi-Fi signal by up to 100X, producing major interference problems for nearby Wi-Fi devices.
To reverse the polarity of the connection, the RP-TNC simply reverses the standard connector pin/socket plug/receptacle arrangement of the TNC connector. In a standard TNC connector, the coax-mounted male connector "plug" that connects to the equipment will have a center pin that visibly protrudes outward. Equipment-mounted standard TNC female "receptacle" connectors feature a recessed hole/socket to "mate" with that center pin. Reverse Polarity TNC is the opposite, whereby the coax-mounted male plug is the one with the recessed hole/socket and the equipment-mounted female receptacle features the protruding pin.
Amphenol Reverse-Polarity TNC (RP-TNC) Male to Female Coaxial Cable Assemblies are used specifically as a RP-TNC extension cables. For instance, perhaps you already have an external RP-TNC equipped Wi-Fi/4G/5G antenna but it only has a short fixed length of coaxial cable built into it, i.e. 5m (16.4'). Our RP-TNC exension cable will allow you to make that antenna's built-in RP-TNC coax connection longer, permitting you the flexibility to relocate the WiFi/4G/5G device itself or mount the antenna higher up for better signal coverage and penetration.
Every Reverse Polarity TNC (RP-TNC) Coax Cable Assembly in our inventory is shown below for your convenience:
