Amphenol 3m (9.8') QSFP28 (100G QSFP) 100GBASE-SR4 802.3bj qualified Active Optical (AOC) cables provide next generation performance by combining four SFP channels operating at speeds up to 28.0 Gbps (SFP28) into one affordable high-density package (QSFP28) capable of combined speeds in excess of 100-Gigabits per second. Our debut QSFP28 Active Optical Cable (AOC) Assemblies from Amphenol XGIGA incorporate one pair of 100GBASE-SR4 QSFP28 Short-Range Multi-mode Fiber (SR MMF) Optical Transceiver Modules that are expertly joined via a pre-measured 3-meter (3m/9.8ft) length of low-loss, high-bandwidth OM3 multimode fiber optic cabling that is expertly laser-welded to each transceiver, completely bypassing the added attenuation/signal loss imposed by the pair of MTP/MPO connectors that would be required in a typical module-patch cord-module configuration. Each QSFP28 connector features 4 separate OM3 fiber data lanes running at a massive 28.0 Gigabits-per-second (SFP28) signaling rate from which 25.0 Gigabit Ethernet traffic is routed. These lanes are electro-optically linked via highly-efficient VCSEL 850nm laser transceiver technology, which, as an actively processed design with low-loss fiber, completely eliminates the signal attenuation and SKEW native to passive copper (Direct Attach Cable – DAC) designs. Furthermore, customers appreciate the significant reduction in cable diameter and subsequent improved bend radius and routing flexibility that copper cables lack. This is especially beneficial in high-density rack server arrays where the thinner cable structure enhances thermal heat dissipation and airflow restrictions. Amphenol XGIGA 3m (10ft) AOC’s are built to the standard QSFP28 Multi-Source-Agreement (MSA) for broad compatibility with any QSFP28 enabled port, whilst also providing backwards compatibility with 40G QSFP Plus (QSFP+) port connections.
