The 26-AWG U/FTP (Foil-Shielded Twisted Pair) 4-pair wire design from our flagship CAT-8 Cables support 25GBASE-T (25G Ethernet) and 40GBASE-T (40G Ethernet) link speeds up to 30-meters (98-feet) in length.
Our unique 26 AWG U/FTP design incorporates our engineering expertise in manufacturing high-speed twinaxial Direct Attach Copper (DAC) Cables at data-rates similar to CAT8. Like our 25G SFP28 Cables, we utilize a foil-shield over our pairs as opposed to a braided shield, for space savings and superior shielding characteristics at frequencies above 1GHz. We also utilize the combination of foamed PE insulation around solid copper conductors instead of the traditional solid PE around stranded conductors for improved signal integrity, all without impacting flexibility.
We also took into account one of the most frequently overlooked aspects of LAN cable selection and that is outer diameter (OD) and cross-sectional area, which are critical in datacenter environments where space is constrained. Compared to far bulkier competing category-8 patch cord designs using 24-AWG S/FTP wire (thicker with outer braided shield), our 26-AWG U/FTP (thinner with outer braid omitted) design offers substantial space savings and enhanced routing flexibility, without compromising CAT8 Fluke channel tested link performance and full 95W Power over Ethernet (PoE) support.
