Category 6A (Cat6A) Cables
Category 6A (Cat6A) Cables |
Are you looking for cables for structured cabling networks? Then use our Category 6a or CAT6A cables. They are alternatively known as Category 6A patch leads. The category 6A cable is set for 500 MHz and can facilitate an extremely high speed data rate transmission of up to 10 Gbps. It possesses the capability of supporting the fastest Ethernet applications. As opposed to the Category 6 cable that functions for a distance of only up to 180 ft, the Category 6A cable is able to handle 10GBASE-T applications for a maximum length of 330 ft.
Main Types of CAT6A Cables
The two primary types of Category 6A Cables are shielded and unshielded, also called F/UTP (FTP) and U/UTP (UTP) respectively. CAT6A FTP cables, which we offer, are comprised of 4 unshielded twisted pairs along with an outer foil shield that is located beneath the outer cable jacket.
The foil shield helps prevent the EMI/RFI from coupling or attaching to the twisted pairs from adjacent cables. Plus it also helps avoid leakage of the data signals from out of the cable. It’d be worthwhile to note that the use of Category 6A shielded/FTP requires a compatible shielded connector as well.
On the other hand the Category 6A UTP cables consist of 4 unshielded twisted pairs; however they don’t contain the outer shield. Plus it is comprised of large conductors, extra internal airspace, internal separator, a thicker outer jacket, and closely held twists. These elements tend to increase the outer diameter of the cable. The CAT6A UTP cables’ construction is designed to help reduce cross talk and ANEXT. The unshielded CAT6A cable must be complemented with unshielded connectors. Be sure to consider all factors when determining the right type of Category 6A cable for your application.
